Gates will open at 3:30pm, with races starting at 4:45pm.
Race Check-In will be on the infield in the west end zone. When you check-in, you will receive a hip and chest number to be worn in the race. They must be worn on the left side for the finish line camera to capture your results.
Athletes are allowed to warm-up on the infield, please just keep back from the timing tent and the Start Line Areas
Race Schedule will be run on time, and we will do our best to not start races ahead of schedule. Athletes must report to the start line area 5 minutes prior to their race, ready to compete. Our announcer, Ron Smith, will announce current and upcoming heats, but it is the athlete’s responsibility to be on time
Medals for Top 3 Athletes per Gender at each Distance and for each Age Group (Rising Stars, Open, HS).
A medical tent will be set up in the west end zone near the check-in table.
We will be running as "Ahwatukee Running Club" at Distance in the Desert and should be wearing our "Ahwatukee" jersey and BLACK shorts.
This is the same uniform we will wear every year for Distance in the Desert as well as Nike Cross Regionals (NXR) so you will get a few uses out of it.
Plan on being at the meet at least 1 hr prior to your event.
Dress warm!
PARKING INFO
From Meet Director:
The meet will be the largest Distance in the Desert meet in our four-year history, with over 200 more entries than this same meet last year. As a result, parking and available warm-up space will be tighter than usual.
The infield will be open for athlete warm-ups.
An additional field east of the track is available for bag drop and pre-race setup.
Please refer to the attached map for these locations.
The map also outlines primary and overflow parking. Please note that another event (Piano Concert) will be taking place at Arcadia HS tomorrow evening, with shows at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, resulting in increased traffic in and out of the parking lot. Carpooling is strongly encouraged if possible.
Finally, the map highlights a warm-up route along the greenbelt. Athletes should follow the yellow-marked path to access this route.
