At Desert Vista, we believe in more than just building strong athletes — we strive to build strong leaders and citizens. That’s why we’re excited to launch this year’s Summer Service Challenge!
Athletes are encouraged to give back to the community this summer by completing at least 10 hours of volunteer service from May 29th - July 22nd. Whether it’s helping at a local food bank, assisting at youth sports events, or lending a hand to neighbors in need, every act of service counts.
Why Participate?
Live our team values: Service Before Self.
Earn a limited-edition DVCC Summer Service Challenge T-shirt as a reward for your efforts.
Make a real impact in the community while building character and leadership.
How It Works:
Log your service hours using our Volunteer Hours Log (linked below).
Hours must be completed between May 29th – July 22.
All submissions must include a brief description of the service performed and a contact information from supervisor or adult present.
Let’s make this summer about more than training. Let’s make it meaningful.
Q: What kinds of service activities count?
A: Any unpaid volunteer work that benefits your community. Examples include helping at food banks, volunteering at youth sports events, doing yard work for a neighbor in need, or organizing a donation drive. LinkCrew Training does not count. Time spent preparing for the first day of school as a member of LinkCrew does count.
Q: Can I count hours completed for school or another club?
A: Yes! If the service meets our guidelines and is logged through this form, it can count for both your class and our team challenge.
Q: What’s the deadline to submit hours?
A: All hours must be completed and submitted by July 22 to qualify for the challenge reward.
Q: Can I group all my hours into one submission?
A: No — please submit this form each time you complete a volunteer activity. That helps us track your hours accurately.
Q: Is there a minimum number of hours required?
A: To earn the Summer Service T-shirt, you’ll need to complete at least 10 hours. But we encourage you to go above and beyond . 25+ hours gets special recognition at team banquet!
Q: Can I volunteer with a friend or teammate?
A: Absolutely — serving with others can make the experience even more fun. Just make sure each athlete logs their hours individually.
Q: What if I forget to get a supervisor's contact info?
A: Do your best to include it, but if you forget, describe what you did and where. We may follow up for clarification.
